We are now accepting applications for the Initiator Program at the Illuman of Texas MROP / Umbrales held October 5-9, 2022 at Slumber Falls Camp in New Braunfels, TX. (Application below)

If you’ve ever wanted to return to an MROP / Umbrales, here is your chance with the Initiator Program. This program is not a repetition of your MROP / Umbrales initiation, but is designed to give an initiated man the opportunity to deepen his understanding of initiation while supporting the initiation of other men. As an elder on these rites, you will engage the men seeking initiation and help them step into what awaits them.

ABOUT THE INITIATOR PROGRAM

Initiated men continue to ask how they can participate in and support the initiation process. By design, the Men’s Rites of Passage is run by a small team of 10-12 men. This helps keep the edges hot, but limits the number of elders that can participate.

 

By offering this program, we hope to provide an opportunity for more initiated men to return to the Men’s Rites of Passage to engage in further personal soul-work and form a prayerful support container for the men who are being initiated.

 

The Initiator Program will run parallel to the actual week of initiation rites. It gives initiated men the opportunity to hold the container for the entire MROP process. It follows the tradition of the elders taking the young men out into the wild to be initiated and holding the container.

 

We are asking you to join us for the five days as we “keep the edges hot” in our role of supporting the MROP process. This will deepen your experience of what happened at your own MROP as we are present in each gathering in the Sacred Space for all rituals and teachings. You will also engage in Council, reflective silence, and time in nature as we form the Sacred Circle of Prayer and Presence. Most of all, we will stand shoulder to shoulder, giving our prayerful strength and support to the MROP team and the men being initiated.

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You have been through the MROP and are an initiated man

  • You desire to deepen your spiritual journey by revisiting the messages of your own initiation

  • You want to be an active “initiator” – a man who invites and supports other men to into the Journey of Illumination

  • You understand that you are not being initiated again

  • You understand that you are not a member of the MROP leadership team

  • You can be present and be part of the container for the entire MROP event

The Initiator fee is $250.00.

Release of Liability

Please read and sign electronically below.

In consideration for participating in an Illuman of Texas event, and in full recognition and appreciation of the dangers and risks inherent in such activities, I do hereby waive, release, and forever discharge Illuman, Illuman of Texas, their officers, agents and employees, as well as any associated persons from and against any and all claims, demands, action or causes of action for costs, fines, expenses or damages to personal property or personal injury, or death, which may result from my participating in these activities.

I understand that all costs for emergency medical treatment, should it be necessary, including medical transportation via ground or air, are my sole responsibility.

I understand and admit that my participating in this event is voluntary. I assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages resulting from my participating in this event including responsibility for using reasonable judgment in all phases of participating in the event and travel to and from the event’s location.

I affirm that I am in good health. I further declare that I am physically fit and capable to participate in such activities. I acknowledge the risk that I am taking in participating in this event. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the appropriate person at the event location of emergency medical information.

I also understand that this Waiver of Liability and Release binds my heirs, executors, administrators, and assignees, as well as myself.
